Our family usually makes this casserole on Christmas morning. We stick it in the oven while we're opening gifts. You make it the night before, and refrigerate it over night. It feeds 5-6 comfortably.
Ingredients:
1 lb. mild sausage, bacon or ham
1 t. salt
1 c. mushrooms
1 t. dry mustard (or curry or wet mustard per your preference)
6 eggs
6 slices of bread
2 c. milk
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese (or any other type you like)
Spray a 7 x 9 pan with Pam or butter to make for easier clean up. Break up bread and put in pan. Brown sausage and mushrooms and layer on top of the bread. Then, layer cheese on top. Mix raw eggs and remaining ingredients in separate bowl and pour over bread, meat and cheese. Let sit in fridge overnight. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45 min., and let it sit 15 min before serving.
