One of my friends recently told me about a blog that she started with 4 of her friends. I think it's a clever idea, and honestly, I'm a little jealous. It's called Five Foodie Friends. The ladies met in college and have been friends for about 8 years. The goal of the blog is ". . . to have yet another way to bring us together: our cooking!" I love it - such a clever idea. I'm not sure if the recipes are good, but I'm pretty sure that at least 3 of the ladies are Southern, so I bet they are!

This summer, I've tried to grow herbs for cooking. I bought a kit with little pots and a bunch of different seedlings. Instead, I would suggest buying a few large herb plants - like basil or rosemary or cilantro - and planting them in large planters or in the ground. I found that the small pots don't yield enough herbs for more than one or two recipes.

Whenever I'm looking for a basic recipe on-line, I usually check out AllRecipes.com. The community can upload recipes, rate them and give reviews. Most of the time, the recipes have been decent, but a few times, they've gone right into the trash. When using this website, take a close look at the ingredients and use your judgement when picking out which ones will be "keepers."

4/20 - I've been receiving Cooking Light Magazine for about a year now, and I love it. I'm thinking that for my Birthday in May, I'm going to ask for Martha Stewart's Everyday Food. She published a book of the same name a while back, and it's definitely one of my favs. I've hot-linked both of the magazines so that if you click on them, it will take you to their websites.
I just started to tweet! Follow me at http://twitter.com/Recipe4WorkGirl.

I'm a relatively new blogger, and I'm always looking for good recipes and other good food blogs and cooking sites. I've used Smitten Kitchen as a model for the things that cooks may want to learn, and truth be told, for some of my blog design. I have a somewhat unrequited jealousy for the author's photos and very obvious cooking ability. I know that as working girls, we may not have the time or inclination to do all of the fancy things she does, but SK is definitely worth at least a weekly look.
